Psychotherapy: common questions
1. What types of therapy do you offer?
I provide evidence-based psychological therapy, primarily using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Depending on your needs, I may also integrate elements from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT).
2. What issues can therapy help with?
Therapy can support you with a range of difficulties including anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, trauma, perfectionism, emotional regulation, and relationship problems.
3. How do I book a session?
You can book a session by emailing me directly or using the contact form on this website. I will get back to you to arrange a convenient time.
4. How long is each session and how often will we meet?
Each session lasts 50 minutes. Most people attend weekly, though we can adjust the frequency based on your needs and availability.
5. How many sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person. Some people feel a significant benefit in 6-12 sessions, while others choose to continue longer. We'll review progress regularly to ensure therapy remains helpful to you.
6. Are sessions online or in person?
Sessions are conducted online via Zoom, which allows flexibility and accessibility from the comfort of your home or office.
7. How much do sessions cost?
Sessions are £90 each. I offer a limited number of reduced-fee slots depending on availability.
8. Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I am registered with major insurance providers including AXA, Aviva, Bupa, Cigna, and Vitality. If you wish to use your insurance, please check your cover and get authorisation before starting therapy.
9. How do I pay for sessions?
Payment can be made by bank transfer. If you are using insurance, sessions are invoiced directly to your provider once authorisation has been confirmed.
10. Is therapy confidential?
Yes. Everything discussed is confidential, except in circumstances where there is a risk of serious harm or if required by law. This will be fully explained in our first session.
11. What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Please provide at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged in full.
12. Can I speak with you before committing to therapy?
Absolutely. I offer a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your needs and see if we're a good fit.
Mental Coaching: common questions
1. What is mental coaching?
Mental coaching helps you develop psychological tools to enhance focus, resilience, confidence, and performance. It draws from sports psychology, cognitive behavioural strategies, and coaching techniques to help you perform at your best – consistently.
2. Who is mental coaching for?
I work with professionals, athletes, and anyone seeking to perform under pressure, make confident decisions, and maintain mental clarity in high-stakes situations. Whether you're preparing for a big event or navigating a demanding role, mental coaching can help.
3. How is mental coaching different from therapy?
Therapy focuses on resolving psychological difficulties and improving mental health. Mental coaching focuses on building strengths, optimising performance, and reaching personal or professional goals. If we identify clinical issues during coaching, I’ll discuss options with you, including therapy referral if needed.
4. What areas can we work on in coaching?
Coaching can help you improve focus, emotional regulation, confidence, self-talk, decision-making under pressure, leadership presence, and sustainable motivation.
5. How long is each coaching session and how often will we meet?
Coaching sessions are 50 minutes long. Frequency depends on your goals – some prefer weekly sessions, others biweekly or monthly. We'll tailor it to fit your objectives.
6. How do I get started?
You can email me directly or use the contact form on this site. We’ll schedule an initial consultation to clarify your goals and see if we’re a good fit.
7. How much does coaching cost?
Coaching sessions are £90. I also offer short-term programmes tailored to specific goals (e.g. confidence, performance anxiety, or mental prep for competition).
8. Can coaching be done online?
Yes, all sessions are delivered online via Zoom – making them accessible wherever you are.
9. Is mental coaching confidential?
Yes. Coaching conversations are confidential. The same ethical principles apply as in therapy: I will not share what you say unless there’s a risk of serious harm or if required by law. Coaching is a space for open, honest reflection.
10. How do I pay for coaching sessions?
Payments can be made via bank transfer. Coaching is not usually covered by insurance policies, but you can check with your provider if they offer coaching reimbursements.
11. Can I combine therapy and coaching?
Potentially, yes – but it depends on your needs. If therapy is already in place, we’d need to consider timing, goals, and boundaries. If not, we can discuss what’s most appropriate during our consultation.
12. Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes, I offer a free 15-minute consultation to clarify your goals and help us decide if coaching is the right fit.
